When an event takes place in the dark, in low light or under changing stage lighting, standard wristbands can be difficult to check quickly. festival wristbands with a UV or glow in the dark effect make the wristbands more visible and easier to verify.
There are two different options, each with its own function and visual style:
UV thread:
UV thread lights up under blacklight (UV-A light) and is mainly used as a hidden security feature. UV threads are available in several different neon colours.
Glow in the dark:
Glow in the dark thread is charged by daylight or strong light and can then glow in the dark for a limited period.
This lets you combine security, design and atmosphere in the same festival wristbands.
UV wristbands – hidden security with blacklight
The UV option works by making special UV threads visible under blacklight, also known as UV-A light. In normal daylight, the effect is discreet or almost invisible, but with a UV lamp, staff can quickly check whether the wristband is genuine.
UV thread is therefore often used as extra security at:
- entrances
- VIP areas
- backstage
- bar areas
- night-time events
The advantage is that the security feature is not obvious to guests, but is still easy for staff to check.
Glow in the dark – a luminous effect in the dark
Glow in the dark works differently from UV. Here, the thread absorbs light from the sun or other strong light sources and then gives off a glowing effect in the dark.
This means the effect does not require blacklight to be visible. However, the glow only lasts for a limited period and depends on how much light the thread has been exposed to.
Glow in the dark is typically used as a visual effect for:
- festivals
- concerts
- club environments
- night runs
- events in dark surroundings
