What is Ocean Bound Plastic?


Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) is plastic waste deemed at risk of entering the ocean. OBP can consist of both recyclable plastic and plastic that is not typically recycled. The term encompasses plastic waste that has been left behind or mismanaged in the environment – in both small and large quantities.

It is typically found in areas with inadequate or non-existent waste management, often within approximately 50 km of coastlines or waterways.
