The almonds become crisp when they cool, but make sure they get enough time in the oven.

If your dad has a sweet tooth, cookies are an obvious choice. It is easy to vary a cookie recipe with chocolate, nuts, peanut butter, a little salt or caramel. Cookies keep well, although they may not last long once dad has tasted them.

If you are in the mood for a gift that takes a little more time, you could try brewing your own beer for dad. Home brewing has been popular for many years, and there are many ready-made recipes and kits, so you do not need to start a full brewery to make your own beer.
Before you start, take a look at your dad’s empty beer bottles. What does he like? Wheat beer, dark beer, IPA or a classic lager? Brewing beer takes a little research, and you need to start in good time if the gift has to be ready for Christmas or a birthday. You could also give him a brewing kit, so you can brew beer together.
